How to use my-cpd

On the my-cpd home page http://www.my-cpd.co.uk, Sign in to your my-cpd account using your email address and password.

You will then be taken to the members area welcome page.

TO ADD EVIDENCE

Step 1
Click on 'Add Evidence' in the navigation bar at the top of the members area welcome page. This will take you to the Add Evidence page.
Choose a 'CPD Category' from the left-hand box on your screen. You can scroll down the list to review all the CPD categories or type a prompt word in the filter box. (The prompt word you use must appear in the category list). When you find the appropriate CPD Category you require, click on it.
Step 2
Once you have chosen a CPD Category from the left-hand box, it will bring up a list of related options in the CPD Activities list (the right-hand box on the screen). Again, you can enter a prompt word in the filter box or you scroll through the list of suggested CPD Activities. Once you click on an activity, it will appear in your 'Selected Activity' box.
N.B. If you have chosen/clicked on a CPD category in the left-hand box and do not find the related CPD activity you require in the right-hand CPD Activities box, then you can add your own. Type your own activity into the 'New Activity' field above the CPD Activities box and then click the 'Add' button. This activity will now always appear as an option listed under 'Your Activities' in the CPD Activities box whenever you choose this particular CPD category.
For example, if you go on a course and choose the category 'Attended Educational Meeting' then you may wish to enter the name of the course you have been on.
Simply click on the 'New Activity' field (above the CPD Activities box) and you can write in the name of your course. Then click 'Add', you will see the title of the course appear in the CPD Activities activity box below, under the title 'Your Activities'. Your course will automatically populate the 'Selected Activity' field.
Step 3
Click on the 'Date' box
This will bring up a calendar. Simply click on the appropriate date. This is a mandatory field, ie: if you don't fill it in you won't be able to progress.
N.B. You can input CPD activities, courses etc from previous years. Simply click on the arrow to the left of the month and this will take you back month by month to the previous year/s you need.
Step 4
Click on the 'Time' box
You can log the duration of your CPD activity in minutes, hours or days. Enter the appropriate numerical value and then click minutes, hours or day, whichever is appropriate.
Step 5
Click on the 'Cost' box
Put the price of your CPD activity here. The cost is saved in £s. If there was no cost, simply leave this field clear (or you can enter a zero).
Step 6
Go to the HPC CPD Standards section – optional but recommended
Look at the HPC CPD Standards section. We recommend that you take a minute to think about these questions. By filling them in now you will save yourself time later when it comes to audit. The three questions that you see here on the Add Evidence page under the title 'HPC CPD Standards' are the HPC standards that you are audited against.
If you answer 'yes' to any of the questions, you are able to write the reason why you believe you have met this standard in the box below.
If you wish to re-familiarise yourself with the HPC's CPD audit requirements, then you can click on the 'RESOURCE CENTRE' (in the navigation bar at the top of the screen, only in the Members section). Once you are on the Resource Centre page, scroll down the page you will see our 'How to write your CPD profile' guide. The clickable links in this section are in orange writing and will take you to relevant pages on the HPC website.
Step 7
'Notes/Reflections/Skills or Knowledge gained' section
If you wish to write any notes/reflections about the piece of CPD evidence you are submitting then click on the Notes/Reflections/Skills or Knowledge gained box and you can start typing.
NB. There is a text count limit within the Notes/Reflections/Skills or Knowledge gained section. If your CPD evidence is more than 2 sides of A4, please type this information into a document, save the document and then use the 'Upload a Document to support this evidence?' function below the 'Notes/Reflections/Skills or Knowledge gained' section to upload the document and store your information.
Depending on the stability of your internet connection it may be prudent, if your are writing an extensive amount of text, to type up your CPD evidence in a Word/text document prior to filling in the 'Notes/Reflections/Skills or Knowledge gained' field. Then use the copy and paste command to enter your text into this section.
Step 8
'Upload a Document to support this evidence?' section
If you wish to upload one or more articles/document/images relating to the piece of CPD evidence you wish log, then scroll down the page to where it says 'Upload a Document to support this evidence?' and click on 'Browse'.
Clicking on 'Browse' will open up your computer's file menu. Click on the file you wish to upload and then click on 'Open' and this imports the document into my-cpd.
Once you have uploaded a document a further box will appear and you can click 'Browse' once more to add a further file/article. Any publication article/image you wish to store in my-cpd must have been saved onto your computer prior to you uploading it into my-cpd.
NB. Please do not upload a web page directly from the internet. If there is a page of content that relates to your evidence then you must cut and paste the information into a Word-type document first, save it to your computer and then upload it to my-cpd using the normal procedure outlined above.
Step 9
Click 'Save Evidence'
At the bottom right-hand corner of the 'Add Evidence' page there is a button entitled 'Save Evidence'. Once you have filled out the information you wish to log, click the 'Save Evidence' button.
The 'ADD EVIDENCE' page is now replaced by a green box that reads:
'Evidence Saved
The evidence was saved successfully.
Click here to add more evidence
'
You have finished submitting your evidence. To log more activities, click on 'ADD EVIDENCE' on the navigation bar at the top of the page once again or follow the 'Click here to add more evidence' link.
If you have logged and saved all the CPD activities you need and wish to review your evidence then click on 'Evidence History' in the navigation bar at the top of the web page.

TO REVIEW YOUR EVIDENCE HISTORY

You need to be logged into my-cpd to review your evidence history.

Step 1
Click on 'EVIDENCE HISTORY' in the navigation bar at the top of the screen.
A chronological list of all of your CPD entries will appear. Each evidence entry lists its date, category, activity, duration, cost, related HPC standard and any documents you have uploaded as well as a print function for each piece of evidence stored. You also have the ability to view/edit each entry.
Step 2
To Review your CPD evidence entries
If you wish to reflect on a piece of evidence you have saved or make additional notes or save additional documents, click on 'view/edit' next to the piece of evidence you wish to alter (found on the right-hand side of the screen for every piece of evidence you have saved). This will bring the individual entry up and you will be able to read all the notes you have already written and open any documents you uploaded with the entry.
Once you have made any changes to the piece of evidence, you will need to scroll down the page until you see the 'Save Evidence' button. Click on 'Save Evidence' and your evidence will be saved. my-cpd will tell you at the top of the screen that the evidence has been successfully saved.
You are able to review your evidence in a number of different ways. You can review by date range, category choice or HPC Standard via the bar at the top of the 'EVIDENCE HISTORY' page.
Step 3
Review saved evidence via date range.
While on the 'EVIDENCE HISTORY' page, you can review saved evidence via date range.
If you wish to check a certain date range then click on the box at the top of the page marked 'From'. A calendar will appear and you can choose a date, then click on the box marked 'To' and, again, a calendar will appear. Pick a date and then click 'Search'. All the pieces of evidence you have saved within that date range will appear.
To return to the normal chronological evidence history screen, simply click on 'Reset'.
Step 4
Review saved evidence via Category
If you wish to check your entries by category of learning, click on the arrow beside the 'Category' box in the bar at the top of the 'EVIDENCE HISTORY' page. A drop-down menu appears. Choose the category you wish to look at, then click 'Search'. A chronological list of all evidence saved in this category will appear in chronological order.
To return to the normal chronological evidence history screen, simply click on 'Reset'.
Review saved evidence via HPC Standard
If you wish to check your entries by HPC Standard, simply click on the arrow under the 'HPC Standard' box in the bar at the top of the 'EVIDENCE HISTORY' and you will be given drop-down menu option of Standard 3, Standard 4 or pieces of evidence that meet both standards. Once you have chosen which standard you require, click 'Search'. A chronological history will appear.
To return to the normal chronological evidence history screen simply click on 'Reset'.
